Unboxing my new Hubbly

My primary Hubbly pipe (Hookah) has been well used, had numerous parts replaced and been the centre of many a good party. It still works but I found myself smoking my portable Hobo Hookah at home of late so I decided it was time to get a replacement.

Yoyogi Park

Memories of the sun to pass the rainy season.

Before the DELUHI BLITZKRIEG tour kickoff I went to the big city to chill. It being the beautiful day that it was, I figured that very little could top smoking some hubby in the park… So I did.

Yoko was the only person with any advanced warning… The Idea was to set up and see what drifts by. I wanted to put up a sign saying ‘FREE EIKAIWA’ but I forgot the materials. Yoko saved me there but as it turned out the sign was a rather useless effort.

It didn’t matter much though ‘cos all sorts of people drifted by. 2 Chinese ladies who were well past their sell by dates, A bizarre photographer, Some Investment banker wannabes with girls names and 1 pretty damn cool Swedish English Teacher…

Turns out said Swede was one of those insta-buds. You know the kind of dude who you have always hung out with even though you have never met them. Needless to say We will be partying it up again sometime soon!

One thing is to be said…

The Hubbly is one of the best inventions on earth!

Ours is the Hubbly that will smoke through to the heavens!

It has been around 21 months since I was last in Johannesburg. I was not driven home by choice but rather by circumstance. Matt’s death was hard on my system and Bryan’s death pushed me to a level of negative emotion (for lack of any simple explanation of the tumultuous pain of losing a brother) I was spinning out of control.

I had the money.
I found the ticket.

I went home for 8 days.

I am not going to go on about the reasons anymore. Those that understand, do.

On my first night back in the city of gold (or as it was on that day, The city of Cold) Trio and Tyrone brought me the best birthday present I have ever gotten (apart from the one My mom gave me at 7am 30/04/1984 and the one my Dad gave me 9 months prior)

Kevin.
The hubbly circle was as complete as it could have been with Cody in Yank and James doing whatever it is James does with his life these days… Tubby filled in for them so its all good :p

I have changed drastically in the past 21 months but there are some things that can not be beaten. and sitting at that table in the yard with your brothers of blood and brothers of steel.

Hubbly Upgrades ~ The Daiso is LIFE!

By far one of the best things that happened to me since I got here was the arrival of my hubbly. My dad and cousin back home hooked it up and sent it over via some seriously high level channels and it has been the centre of every party I have been to here. It did have ONE serious flaw (as my Tatami will testify to): It fell Over really easily.
The Daiso (100円 shop) came to my rescue.

I Gut me a rubber based Dogfood bowl… stuck it on wit valcro and faster than yoou can say ‘JAMES!!! HUBBLY!!!!’ the problem was solved.
Also while browsing the Daiso on another day I came across the ultimate tool… I don’t know what it’s original purpose was but It sure as sex makes hubbly hole poking a breeze!
