More shots from the Canon 20D

My S14 - Yuki (famous Instagrammer) - Betty Boop's severed head.

I was given a free Canon 20D recently. I've taken it out to play from time to time, and for some reason, there is something about the look from it's 13 year old sensor, that I really like.

Painful Skyline

From Wikipedia: Itasha (痛車, literally "painful car") is a Japanese term for a fashion of individuals decorating the bodies of their cars with fictional characters of anime, manga, or video games (especially bishōjo game or eroge). These characters are predominantly "cute" females. The decorations usually involve paint schemes and stickers.

It is what it is. I have no words. If you like it, good for you, I suppose.

I daresay it doesn't look terrible on this 180SX. If only the character depicted was an adult woman, not a child, because you know the owner has had a long session with 'Mrs Palmer and her five daughters' while looking at pictures of that character.

While the thought of driving one of these things is rather painful. I must say. This is designed and wrapped well. I quite like that pearlescent green pattern.

Catching Zs

Randomly, where I happened to be on Sunday morning, was where A bunch of Fatlady Z enthusiasts were having a meet.

gunma japan

Yes FATlady. That wasn't a typo. Back in the 240 days she may have been slender and fair but in her old age she's filled out quite a bit.

gunma japan

That probably explains the immense popularity of the 350Z and 370Z in the States.

gunma japan

Just the briefest glance at any piece of pop culture from The Empire reveals an un-natural love for, overly rotund behinds...
usually being gyrated vigorously at the camera.
Basically, drifting Zs

TOKYO AUTO SALON 2017 - Stance & Stilettos - (iPhone 7 Plus) 東京オートサロン2017

The best Tokyo Auto Salon 2017 on YouTube (Even if I say so myself), Shot in 4K UHD on  on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus using Mavis.

This is the one you've been waiting for!

It's that time of the year again, and as in years past, Akihabaranews sent me to Makuhari Messe to capture images of Stanced rides and stilletoed companions . Unlike years past however, My camera was off at Sony for repairs and so I was forced to extract as much as I could out of my iPhone 7 Plus. Much to my surprise, for stills, with clever lighting, it churned out some impressive results.

It wasn't as good at video, but using the Mavis app, controlling exposure, and recording at a higher bit-rate did do some to help the video quality. Add motion and some fancy cuts to help people not focus on the noisy shadows and, as it turns out, something halfway decent can be extracted out of Apple's latest Flagship.

It's not going to be replacing my Sony a7S anytime soon. But for the regular folks out there who are far less worried about quality and aren't quite up at the enthusiast photographer level, I don't see any reason to spend money on any camera.

Driver Portraits - Daikoku Parking Area Dec 2016

Those of you who follow my Japanese underground instagram account or follow my facebook page will have seen these, and my previous portraits like them. If it's your first time seeing my [driver portraits] series, the basic concept is that all the cool cars are nothing without the people who build their hearts and souls into them. Everyone shoots the cars, which are just secondary representations. The true creativity, beauty, passion and soul of a vehicle is the person behind the wheel.

If you want to see more of the people that mainstream Japanese society shuns, and the amazing things they do, check out my instagram account or follow my facebook page.

iPhone 7 Plus Raw Photos. Tokyo Auto Salon 2017 Preview.

I've been forced to push the limits of my new iPhone 7 Plus while my Sony is getting repaired.

As with all cameras, RAW is what you need to shoot if you want the most out of your photos. I used Adobe Lightroom mobile to shoot DNGs on my phone and the synced them and tweaked them on my machine.

It's no full frame. But for what it is, the quality I could extract was rather impressive.

Incidentally I shot these at Tokyo Auto Salon 2017. There are plenty more coming soon.

Low Honda - XXR - Much shiny

Morbius would appreciate this Honda...

Me? I'm not a big fan of FF cars, but I like the way the light played off this one's wheels. In the end my photographer's calling was stronger than my dislike for torque steer. If I keep posting pictures of cars, this is going to become a car blog... One thing is for certain, unlike all the other big brand car-blogs out there, I would pay contributors fairly... and would probably make no money because of that.

Why is it so hard to make a decent, fair and honest living without having to rip people off in the process?

A slammed glimpse into my S14's future.

Last night at the 「Yuki's Night」night-meet, at Takasaka Service Area on the Kan-Etsu expressway (In Saitama, just North of Tokyo), I got an Idea of how the mods I planned to do to my new S14 would eventually look.

The GT-R R33 wheels, The lowered stance, The slightly augmented stock aero. It was all there... And it looked even better than I imagined it would. The trouble is, that now I've seen it, I know it's been done already, so I have to think of a way to set mine apart when the time comes.

Thankfully, my woefully inadequate salary means that it's not something I need to worry about anytime in the near future.

But as someone on his 3rd S14 which was bought because it was cheap, more than anything else, my faith in the S14's looks and my urge to build mine has been renewed.

Now to find a way get people to pay me appropriately for my work, so I can make mine this cool.

S14 VLOG

I've been half-assedly making vlogs about my car now that I've returned to carlife. As one should expect from anything with the word "VLOG" in it, the quality is appropriately terrible. Definatley nowhere near my usual standards... But that's the point. They're meant to be VLOGs hence not quality. Anyway. Enough preface. If you like cars or VLOGs, check out my new(ish) car-vlog.

Small-town carshow - Chikuma, Nagano #RandomJapan

The cat's old man took me here the last time I was in Nagano because   I like cars. It was good to see a gathering like this in small-town Nagano, The only sad thing is that most of the rides weren't actually local.

It's actually cheaper to drive into and around Tokyo than take the trains.

The whole train, public transport thing may be good for society. But it's not good for me. I can't stand Tokyo's trains and the selfish, idiots who ride them, Now, I no longer have to.

s14 シルビア

It's actually 10% - 15% cheaper to drive into Tokyo than to ride the train. Even in my 2 litre high octane drinking, carbon spewing, sportscar. It does take longer though, but 30 minutes more in an airconditioned comfortable space with my music as loud as I want it, as opposed to standing pressed up against a salaryman, absorbing his smoky hangover tinged sweat into my clothes? I'll leave early and drive every time I can.

The ultimate Japanese pussy magnet!

Double Trouble #JapaneseRides

With my tax return, I have purchased my third Nissan Silvia. Yet another white S14 Kouki, but this one is a Q's Automatic, not a K's Manual. It's almost certainly going to become my daily driver. The black beast will be relegated to track duty only (as soon as I can actually afford to track it again).

"But wait, you can't even afford parking!?" is what you're going to say, but in a month, things will be a bit different. Soon, I'll be back in my natural habitat, behind the wheel, once more!
