Grind Chaos 刺 vol.2

iPhone 7 Plus Raw Photos. Tokyo Auto Salon 2017 Preview.

I've been forced to push the limits of my new iPhone 7 Plus while my Sony is getting repaired.

 As with all cameras, RAW is what you need to shoot if you want the most out of your photos. I used Adobe Lightroom mobile to shoot DNGs on my phone and the synced them and tweaked them on my machine.

It's no full frame. But for what it is, the quality I could extract was rather impressive.

 Incidentally I shot these at Tokyo Auto Salon 2017. There are plenty more coming soon.

Japanese Metalheads - Knotfest 2016

I love metal. It's one of the most important parts of my life. And while the music is the thing that brings us together. One of my favorite aspects of Metal is that it's universal. Wherever you go, whatever you do. Metal is forever. and All over the world. Metalheads are family.

Incidentally even in the crappiest light, Good subject and good timing, and a little creativity using what light you have can create epic portrait photography even on an iPhone.

Most painful Itasha yet #TokyoStreets #JapaneseRides

I've seen some really sad Itasha in my time here, and I didn't think they could possibly be more painful to look at, then this guy drove past. On the one hand, the fact that Itasha drivers do things which are against the norms of society, makes me happy, but the things they do are so...きもい that it leaves me feeling like I need to wash my eyes out with soap. To each, his own?

 I suppose even Itasha are better than bicycles.

Souvenirs for Initial D fans #BecauseJapan

Mt. Haruna in Gunma Prefecture is famous for playing the role of Mt. Akina in Initial D. 

For the tiny town atop the mountain this means a good deal of tourists head up there to drive  the legendary mountain pass, take their ladies on dates to the lake and buy souvenirs, like these Initial D cookies and cakes. On a Shoot for Takasaki City, I had a chance to go up there during the day for a change, and (as I wan't driving) didn't blast past the town at pace, on my way to the ura-haruna mountain pass (which is an epic driving road) as I used to do back when I lived at the bottom of this mountain... So I got to take these pics ;)

3 (bigger) First was earthquakes in one week (so far). #BecauseJapan

First was the M5.5 in the video above:

Then came the 4.8 early this morning:

And now this massive M8.5 that struck 590km deep, south of Japan:

Add to that a bunch of new volcanic eruptions, including volcanic activity at Mt. Hakone which has been dormant for 700 years and a pattern of quakes and eruptions all around the pacific this past week and it's pretty clear that the ring of fire is burning bit hotter than usual right now. I hope things continue at this pace and all the pressure continues to release itself regularly and with minimal force than all in one go, like back in 2011.
