I need to move back to gunma.

Every time I go back it's like I never left. I have real friendships that have stood the test of separation while I've been away. The beauty of the surroundings. Drivers on the road that don't suck. The strait-talking zero-BS way of life. I miss it so much. I'll give up everything in a heartbeat for any job that pays halfway decently back in Gunma.

Yoyogi park weekdays, fishing in Nagano and more...#7Days7Minutes (2016-05-16)

A slightly more abstract video than the last, and a bit rushed on the cuts, but I need to make a point of pushing through the backlog, so quality may suffer.

Otherwise, I don't get on camera this week either. For which, you're probably better off.

Sakura Nights #RandomJapan

Approaching midnight, in a quiet residential park, in a bed-town southwest of the Tokyo madness, the atmosphere is as perfect as the sakura.

Mister Fuji #JapanScapes

Those of you who follow me on instagram have seen a pic not unlike this one. That was straight out of camera though and when viewed larger than instagram, it didn't look so good. But a took a few RAWs and when massaged a bit in lightroom, this one stood out above all the rest.

Obama makes the best fish in the world!

I had work in Obama, Fukui Prefecture so I've hogged this 7 days 7 minutes with some drives, panoramas and a little left over work footage of the town, the surrounding countryside and it's primary delicacy. Fresh grilled fish.

There is a dash of Tokyo in there too for those of you who like the big, boring city.

CASIO Excursion Tests New EXILIM EX-FR10 Action Cam & PRO-TREK Watch (AkihabaraNews.com)

Media dudes are climbing a mountain.
Why are they climbing a mountain?
Media dudes are climbing a mountain.
Why are they climbing a mountain?
On Monday the 29th of September, CASIO held their first ever media retreat to give the who’s who of Japanese-language tech publications and a jumped-up hooligan from AkihabaraNews the lowdown on their new modular EXILIM EX-FR10 action camera and PRO-TREK PRW-3000 series watches. It was a two day affair in the northern Japanese Alps where we essentially got to hang out with the dudes and dudettes in charge of developing and marketing the aforementioned products, learn about the features, and shoot the shizzle with them, all in an environment that they envision the products mainly being used in. Of the 8 or 9 websites and magazines who were representing, ours was the only one that caters to an audience beyond these islands. Why any of the others would have passed on a trip like this is beyond me, because essentially it was an all-expenses-paid mountain vacation for camera nerds.

Got some really good photos in there too

Anzu - Japanese Apricots

Chikuma City in Nagano is one of only a few places where Anzu, or Japanese Apricots are grown. They've been at it for 300 years and are pretty good at it. The best ones sell for around ¥10000 per box.

Chikuma Anzu Chikuma Anzu Chikuma Anzu Chikuma Anzu Chikuma Anzu Chikuma Anzu Chikuma Anzu

I've been shooting footage for a video, promoting both the Anzu, and the city, for the better part of the week. It's been a nice (and delicious) break from the rat race that is Tokyo.

The Last Cherry Blossoms of 2014

On the last trip to Nagano, we managed to catch the end of the Cherry Blossom season there. It's probably the last chance for the pink flowers this year. For those of you who don't like all the flowers, rest easy. This is it till next year's spring madness returns.

Japanese Spring Flowers that aren't cherry blossoms

The national obsession with the cherry blossom tends to override the fact that other flowers bloom in spring. Don't get me wrong, I like the Sakura as much as everyone else, but sometimes You'd think that they're the only flower in existence... Here are 5 that are not:

3rd on down is an Anzu (apricot) blossom. The rest... I haven't the foggiest. If you know, enlighten me with a comment!
