I bought a watch. It tells the time accurately, It has an alarm and it was dirt cheap. Yes I could have gotten something better, but I'm going to lose it anyway, so there is no need to drop more than I have to.

Duet and a sexy wallpaper

Since switching to the macbook, the lack of screen real estate has been a big problem, especially for work. Since i had the old retina iPad I looked into screensharing apps to get a little more space on my desktop. I settle don duet because it works over the USB cable, not wifi, so there is less lag. It does the job. I now have a place to dump my footage library in premier, making editing a little less cluttered. Yes a proper display would have been both bigger and faster... but I'm poor and the app was way cheaper than an actual display.

I've also sliced up a few of my photos to use as wallpapers on it. I reckon you guys might like this one, from the 2015 Tokyo Autosalon, so I'm putting it up. feel free to use as a wallpaper on any device you want. If you wanna do more with it, drop me a line and we can discuss things (I can also give you a better res version).

some of you may have noticed my site has been down for a while. I ran out of money for hosting and with the grid launching soon (hopefully) I decided not to drop big money on the pricy server I used before. But circumstance has forced my hand and I needed to at least get a place holder/email addys up again, so I got a cheapo Japanese host for a a few months and put this up. The final product is going to be quite a bit different but till then, at least my URL goes somewhere ;)

A Tribute and Farewell to my Old Buddy

Financial woes have forced me to part with my well used, trusty Lumix GH1. It has been my backup camera up till now for all the times the GH3 messed it's pants and needed to be sent back to Panasonic for repairs. It was my first Digital interchangeable lens camera and my first proper camera that I bought with my own money.

It's not me Tokyo, It's you.

Those of you who've been following my 7 Days 7 Minutes vids and a few of my posts here will likely know that Ive been having some serious bowl problems. after 2 endoscopies and numerous blood tests, The diagnosis is finally in..

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ME!!!!!

Doc reckons that I have other things in my life that are worrying me and that stress is causing my problems, and worrying about the problems causes no stress. and so it repeats. He also reckons I need to see a shrink.

All of this got really bad when I moved to the big city so Whatever has gone awry in my life has happened here and It needs to be addressed before I can start chilling out and then hopefully my body will stop giving me grief. Knowing nothing is wrong with me doesn't help the fact that the stomach is churning as I type this, And that Ive been nauseous since last night.

Wikipedia says that this is actually a thing. Physical symptoms of indigestion without anything actually being wrong. It's not fun but I'm not going to worry about it anymore lest it gets worse.

The effect of clickbaiting will blow your mind!

No it won't actually. But it's both impressive and rather sad how an obviously baited title (and possibly a cute cheerleader) had such a big impact on my page views. I'll take a look at google analytics later and try figure out the details but purely from hits on each post  it's rather obvious the click bait worked wonders. Incidentally, I didn't post this to any other communities or anything besides my own social media outlets. Now I know why all those garbage regurgitation sites do this. clearly it works.

It is still tacky, cheap and lame... and despite my blog needing some miracle in the pageview department, I'll try to avoid the bait unless... it's to take the piss out of the easily baited...

REVIEW: Panasonic Lumix GH4 (AkihabaraNews.com)

GH4! 
When the GH3 came onto the market, there was no denying that Panasonic was deliberately targeting the pro market. The GH2’s consumer-like colorful smoothness gave way to a magnesium body that was larger, more ergonomic, and dressed like Darth Vader.

Their online marketing material included testimonials from professional photographers and filmmakers from around the world, giving further evidence to the notion that it was a professional device.

By and large, they succeeded and found their niche in the market as purveyors of the best (arguably only) true hybrid photography system.

Now, a year and a bit later, Panasonic is about to unleash the GH3’s successor It’s called the GH… wait for it… 4!

No jokes... This might be my best piece since the Otaku Magazine days.

Shots #88 …I know it’s been some time…

If there is one thing that the mac just can’t do, it’s blog well. All the blog editing software that is halfway decent costs a fortune and still can’t do shit compared to windows live writer for free. But being my mobile machine it tends to be the thing that gets photos off the camera and thus I need to trasfer the pics from the mac lappie to the windows deskie. Since the SSD and reinstall on the deskie.. I have been to lazy to make my network work again… till now. Expect a bunch of backlog over the next month or 2.

Oh and we went to the beach too !

Tumblr and Bloggr

NO! I am not moving the blog to Tumblr. But I have created a Tumblr blog. It will be more daily life detritus than dedicated Japanese escapades, and will likely be a little more opinionated (be warned ye faint of heart) The last few days on Tumblr have opened my eyes to aspects of the social web that I at first, couldn't understand but now feel could become indispensible.

here is why…


Everyone goes on about the Tumblr VS Blogger situation and generally either does a feature comparison and never takes a stand (BASICALLY do bugger all) or they take a stand too firmly and go for one only and write off the other.


Since i have a a successful, relatively well read and as far as I am concerned, established blog, it would be stupid to uproot and shift. But Tumblr does indeed have a number of good features. I decided to evaluate it and see how it fits into my life and other social media concerns. I finally have come to the conclusion that Tumblr is what the Facebook wall or Google Buzz should have been.


Tumblr’s mobile posting ability is light-years ahead of any of the systems that work with blogger and it is far more centralized and browsable than twitter for rich media. I have basically turned it into a mobile blog for things that I need to get out when I do, thoughts and images. that I want to share but not necessarily with any real purpose or goal. There may be some mirrored content between all of them but I have found a way to use all and fragment them in a way that I like. A rambling like this for example will likely not be posted here again.


I will shift more life to there and keep this focused on location specific items. Nothing here will likely change. I am still developing an Identity for my Tumblr page, and it may never have one, but yeah. If you don't know me on Facebook, or if you happen to have a Tumblr account, if nothing else its a fun feed. Yes… This is a shameless plea for followers :p

A new look.

I got tired of the old theme, so I went back into the blogger control panel and discovered that there is now a theme designer. Nifty. Its uber customisable. Niftier.

SO i chose the simple template and worked the colours to look similar to my favorite wordpress theme, Firebug. but due to various things mine actually looks a whole lot better.

The facebook comment integration was an iffy spiffy so I am still debating whether or not to keep it. for now I will re enable blogger comments. let me know what you think.
