And that's why I keep going back to Kabukicho. 

They are trying to Gentrify it.

But the grime is too thick, and the lure of flesh, too strong.

It's become safer but I don't think it could ever truly be a safe-space.

And in a city that's actively trying to kill of everywhere that is remotely fun. 

And replacing it with corporate friendly, entertainments for the boring, mainstream masses.  

It's the scummy corners like Kabukicho that will be the last refuge for proper fun, in central Tokyo.

A slammed glimpse into my S14's future.

Last night at the 「Yuki's Night」night-meet, at Takasaka Service Area on the Kan-Etsu expressway (In Saitama, just North of Tokyo), I got an Idea of how the mods I planned to do to my new S14 would eventually look. 

The GT-R R33 wheels, The lowered stance, The slightly augmented stock aero. It was all there... And it looked even better than I imagined it would. The trouble is, that now I've seen it, I know it's been done already, so I have to think of a way to set mine apart when the time comes.

Thankfully, my woefully inadequate salary means that it's not something I need to worry about anytime in the near future.

But as someone on his 3rd S14 which was bought because it was cheap, more than anything else, my faith in the S14's looks and my urge to build mine has been renewed.

Now to find a way get people to pay me appropriately for my work, so I can make mine this cool.

Kitamoto Nights #RealJapan

When I meet people, even people from Saitama, and tell them I live in Kitamoto, more often than not, I get asked where (the hell)  that is....

Which means we chose the perfect place to move to.

I know the camera is only a part of the image making  process. Give me a shitty camera and I'll still give you an excellent image. Conversely, give the average Taro a Hasselblad and you'' get a blurry 50 megapixel duck-face selfie. But there are times when the technology becomes more than just a medium with which to create, but actually enables creativity in conditions that other cameras just can't handle. IS0 32000 in the outskirts of town, surrounded by rice fields. Lit only by a single, weak, incandescent streetlight. I have always been a fan of shooting in low light, but with my a7S I no longer shoot at night... I own the night.

While I usually prefer the cockroach level views of the world's largest city, I've managed to ascend to haughty heights, and gaze upon the city through my nostrils, with the same contempt that those that dwell at these heights tend to have of people like me, twice in one week.

Whereas the previous time was as unconfortable as it was awe inspiring, this time,  I had no problems with being with my jumped-up status. After all,  If one is forced to be in Roppongi, it's always good to be as far as away from the streets, and it's multiple examples of the worst possible combinations our species' DNA is capable of producing, as possible.

I had the opportunity to see a view that's way above my pay-grade. It'd be rude not to share it.

Whenever I see it like this, It's always such a beautiful city. Much like it's 36 million inhabitants though, the beautiful facade often hides a dirty, cold, selfish, rotten core... but damn it looks fine.
