Komochi Orphanage Open Day

Justin has told us about an orphanage that he and some others visited a few times last year. They had their Open Day at the end of April so we went along to introduce ourselves. It was quite the kawaii blast! Little kids are always fun!.

Technically its not really an orphanage. All the kids have parents, its just that the parents either cannot afford to take care of them or just neglect them. Kinda like a social welfare shindig where the kids go while the parents get their acts together.

We went back there this weekend and it was also alot of fun… but that is another post.

for now… enjoy the pics.

   Really fun and friendly guy.

I see wat you did thar!

Justin and Hisami

Lucky Cider CM with Nozomi Sasaki

Ok so like every red blooded male in this country I like my fair share of Gravure Idols… One of them is Nozomi Sasaki. She is the star of what has become the most stuck in my head commercial since the Pizza-la Cool Cream Cheese ads last year…
So now you can get it stuck in your heads too!

Don’t say I never do anything for you!

At the beginning of the school year here, we get a fresh new batch of 1st graders (Std 5 equivalent). Fresh out of Primary school and ready for the big badass world of Junior high.

In an effort to recruit the new blood into the various clubs at the school, each club made recruiting posters. this is what they look like:

IMGP3279 IMGP3281  IMGP3272
IMGP3271 IMGP3257  IMGP3259
IMGP3261 IMGP3277  IMGP3275
IMGP3276 IMGP3274  IMGP3278

I personally like the Brassband posters the best.. they look like they are advertising a Gothic lolita girl band… that or an evil cult!

New Theme

So i wanted a theme with more width for pics… I have one now. Yay me.

I will play with it a bit and use it as a base to design my own theme for this thing. les see how that goes.

So I remembered that I had a blog and decided that i need to drop some hasty updates in the next few days…

It is spring in Japan, quite possibly one of the best seasons I have ever experienced in my life, yes even better than Jozi spring and Mid Jozi winter (those who don’t appreciate how awesome our winter days in Jozi are need to go without them for a while)

The beginning of spring in the land of the rising sun is marked by the blooming of cherry blossoms or sakura.

A lot has been said and written and attributed to these flowers. All I can say is that seeing them in real life was an pretty damn awesome.

I tagged along with my new 3rd years when they went to the shrine around the corner from our school (i will find out what it is called sometime or the other) It was the perfect day, the sakura were in full bloom. Hell it was straight out of a movie.

Hanami (looking at the flowers) is one of those must do at least once before you die experiences. The weather, the flowers, the way the entrenched age old Japanese tradition manifests in a modern Japan… and the flowers are pretty too.
